About Us

David and Rebecca Leaning welcome everybody into their Hotel and Restaurant which they see as their home. Although the Cross Keys was named the most haunted in East Anglia in 1996 this does not phase the Leanings as they are used to having unusual activity from living in previous Grade II listed (and old) premises.
Prior to purchasing the Cross Keys, their previous four years was spent transforming the White Hart Hotel in Calne into a successful business with constant organic growth making the hotel the known centre for community events and influencing town direction.
The White Hart was the operational centre for entering The Guinness Book of World Records for the largest living nativity scene on ‘The Green’ (Dec 16), the introduction of St. George’s Day Medieval Fayre attracting 1000+ footfall each day, three annual and consecutive entries into CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide, a Five Food Hygiene Rating (2 independent inspections), the largest collection raised for the Poppy Appeal in three consecutive years and the salvation of the town’s Community Radio internet based radio station. A weekly Pub Quiz (Tuesday) raised several thousand pounds for local charities and good causes.

What We Offer

At The Cross Keys Hotel, we offer a traditional unique stay in a 'Countryside' setting.  We have space to accommodate an individual simply wanting a pot of tea to 100+ people out to enjoy a night of fun and celebration (we have several PA systems and lighting systems for discos and karaoke. This can substantially reduce your costs.)

Somewhere in between  we can accommodate a group of people who wish to celebrate a person's life as a Wake, post-funeral attendance or a company requiring a private meeting room with good Wi-Fi. (We have LED projectors, Wireless Sound Systems and large monitors for presentations available). The most popular requirements are birthday parties, wedding receptions and christenings.

Nowhere can the charm of bells peeling and chiming from a Medieval Church across the road be replicated anywhere else and with 12 rooms (10 En-suite) we can offer you a fabulous experience from one night to...

We have private car park at the rear of the hotel too. This acts as a perfect base to visit a vast array of places to visit or stay and see relatives living in the town.
